Bernard Thompson - Director, Founder

Bernard comes from a communications background and has over 30 years experience working for large multinational Advertising Agency’s including George Patterson, Ogilvy & Mather , McCann Erickson, media brokers and is still actively engaged in the industry with ongoing projects with Mindshare, part of the global WPP communications group. He specialized in the launch of new products and services that are now household names that include Dynamo, Spray N Wipe, Country Blend Cordials and Conserves and was part of the team that helped the then ‘up start’ retail airline East West Airlines break down the two airline monopoly in Australia.

He left mainstream advertising to ‘have a go’ at developing and launching his own products and through the R&D of reactive dye stuffs developed a  cotton treatment process that minimizes UV ray penetration. Bernard is credited as the founder and father of the global sun protective textile industry that has estimated annual retail sales in excess of US $500 million. See more case study.

Being an educator and issue focused, he turned his attention to tackling climate change via the development of products and education platforms to help reduce our daily impact on the environment. Rapelle is continually looking to develop tools to help business and individuals see the benefits of reducing carbon footprint and run a sustainable enterprise. Educational tools developed or under development include carbon footprint calculators, building maintenance reduction calculators, videos, publications and risk mitigation consultancy services.
Recognising that saving the planet is more than  just flicking a switch or using less water, he partnered with Sami Raheb, a leading industrial chemist to innovate better ways through surface treatment product development to minimize the enormous waste generated in day to day infrastructure maintenance.

Sami Raheb completed his Bachelor of Applied Science, Applied Chemistry in 1992 at the University Of Western Sydney, Nepean campus, and went on to complete a Masters Degree in Applied Chemistry in 1994.

Since leaving University has worked as an R & D chemist for a leading chemical manufacturer mainly in the field of building products and coatings.
In the last 4 years has pursued a chemical nanotechnology initiative where he has developed 2 new to market nano coatings for application to glass and concrete surfaces.

He also takes on special project product developments for industry worldwide, where by given a brief, works to research and develop chemical solutions that solve specific industry problems.

Projects completed recently are bio remediation of oil sludge and oil spills for a Bahrain oil company, a novel anti corrosion metal coating for one of the largest shipping companies in the world and a nature positive formwork release agent for concrete for a major Korean construction company.
