Rapelle Attacks Graffiti Taggers

Client:

SOPA (Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Homebush Bay, Sydney Australia.

Project:

19 Plaza Light Towers surrounding ANZ Stadium. (Photo 1)

The problem:

Plaza towers were a target for graffiti and chewing adhesion and above water drainage caused staining and algae build up.

SOPA was reluctant to use any graffiti shield as others had ruined the nature texture and feel of the surface areas in the past such as bin and BBQ facilities. (Photo 2)  There was an urgent need to protect the towers as scheduled events such as The Royal Easter Show, concerts at Acer Arena, NRL Football, AFL Football would attract ‘taggers’.

The solution:

SOPA was given the choice of using a matt or gloss finish to protect the towers from graffiti. SOPA decided on a semi-gloss finish that blended with the existing surface but would deter ‘taggers’ as they (taggers) could see that the surface had been treated. Our Applicators pressure cleaned the towers and after drying, applied a dual coat of the Rapelle Graffiti Shield.

The outdoor Plaza Towers, which are susceptible to high traffic and exposure to all weather types, have an effective visual deterrent, and if ‘tagged’ minimize the use of chemical cleaning because Rapelle Graffiti Shield is  a non sacrificial negating specialist removal and costs.

By effectively sealing the surface area, chewing gum adhesion is easy managed because of the non stick effect and Rapelle Graffiti Shield acts as a barrier to dirt, oils & grease and general weathering and will last up to 10 years subject to surface care.
